Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-15, 2-7 PSAC East) fell to visiting Shippensburg (12-7, 6-3 PSAC East) tonight, 69-61.
The Lady Eagles battled from the start as the Raiders gained a 13-1advantage just six minutes into the first period.
LHU gained momentum when
Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) netted a three to cut the Raider lead to 22-19 with 5:29 left to play.
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) netted a layup to give LHU its first lead of the night, 26-23. The Lady Eagles held an, 34-29 advantage at the break.
LHU maintained control for much of the second period until Stephanie Knauer netted a layup to give the Raiders an, 50-49 advantage with less than nine minutes to play.
Shippensburg would not relinquish its lead from that point forward, as the Raiders sealed the game down the stretch.
Senior
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) led LHU 12 points and eight rebounds. Ryan earned three blocks in 28 minutes and shot 100% from the free throw line.
Moyer netted 12 points and grabbed four rebounds in another solid performance for the Lady Eagles. Moyer added four steals.
Gildea netted 11 points off the bench and grabbed four rebounds.
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) was an all-around threat netting seven points and grabbing four rebounds. Lane dished out two assists and added four blocks.
Sophomore
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) added six rebounds and dished out three assists in the loss.
The Lady Eagles shot 73.7% from the free throw line and scored 34 points in the paint.
Stephanie Knauer led Shippensburg with 21 points. Sarah Strybuc and Lauren Gold added 16 points, respectively.
Lock Haven returns to action on Saturday, February 1
st at Bloomsburg (1 p.m.).
