The Lock Haven University wrestling team is set for a pair of weekend Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) matches.

The Bald Eagles travel to Clarion on Friday, Jan. 31 for a 7 p.m. match and Lock Haven hosts Cleveland State on Saturday (Feb. 1) at 2 p.m.

Saturday's match is Lock Haven's final home match of the season and it marks senior day for three Bald Eagles.

Lock Haven enjoyed an off week last week from competition and enters Friday's dual with a 2-8 overall mark. LHU is 0-3 in EWL action with losses to Rider, Bloomsburg and Edinboro.

Clarion is 6-10 overall and 0-2 in EWL action.
Â
Cleveland State is 1-6 overall and 0-1 in EWL matches. The Vikings wrestle at Bloomsburg Friday evening.

Breaking out the new mat:
On Saturday afternoon, the Bald Eagles will break out a brand new mat featuring the new LHU Athletics' logo. The mat was made by possible thanks to the donation of local supporters Ron and Jo Ann Bowes. Ron is a 1966 Lock Haven State College graduate and a former Bald Eagle wrestler. The local Fraternal Order of the Eagles, #4298 Club also made a generous donation for a second wrestling mat for the program.

There are a number of Mat Town U.S.A connections this weekend, including the fact that both Clarion assistant coach Keith Ferraro (2003) and Cleveland State head coach Ben Stehura (2000) are Lock Haven University graduates.

The Bald Eagles have lost to Clarion two straight times, including an 18-16 decision last season. Lock Haven won five bouts, but it wasn't enough to take down the Golden Eagles. Current Bald Eagles –
