Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (2-9) picked up its second win of the 2013-14 season with an, 70-58 win over Pitt-Johnstown (5-7) today at Thomas Fieldhouse.
LHU (2-9) was led by junior guard
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.), who netted 12 points and pulled down a team-high 16-rebounds.
Moyer dished out three assists and tallied two blocks in 38 minutes of action.
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) also anchored LHU as she recorded 12 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out a team-high five assists.
Down 15-12 with 12:55 remaining in the first half, The Lady Eagles held Pitt-Johnstown scoreless for over five minutes to take a, 28-15 lead with 7:04 remaining.
The Lady Eagles held a, 38-27 advantage at the halftime break with four players netting six points and two adding five points in the first-half.
LHU's balanced attack kept it going in the second half to gain a 17-point lead over Pitt-Johnstown with 15:16 left to play.
Pitt-Johnstown continued to battle, but the Lady Eagles recorded back-to-back steals in the final minute of the game to give LHU the, 70-58 victory.
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) delivered an all-around performance for LHU. Ryan netted eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and recorded two steals in 35 minutes of action
Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) netted 10 points and grabbed six rebounds in the win.
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) added six rebounds.
LHU scored 34 points in the paint and 20 points off turnovers. The Lady Eagles scored eight fast break points and shot 65.2% from the free throw line.
Nicole Carman led The Mountain Cats with 15 points in 25 minutes of action.
Today marked the second win for the Lady Eagles this season eight straight games.
The Lady Eagles are right back in action tomorrow, January 4 (1 p.m.) against Indiana (Pa.) in PSAC Crossover matchup.
