Women’s Basketball falls to IUP, 77-66

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (2-10) fell to visiting Indiana (Pa.) (11-1), 77-66 today at Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) led LHU with 20 points and Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Univ. of Mansfield) added 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but it was not enough for the Lady Eagles.
 
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) had an all-around performance today.  She netted eight points and recorded three assists.  Lane added a team-high four steals for The Lady Eagles.   
 
Senior-forward Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) added eight points and six rebounds in 28 minutes of action.    
 
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) netted four points, respectively.
 
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altonna) grabbed eight rebounds and recorded three assists for The Haven.
 
IUP closed out the first half with an, 38-31 lead after the Lady Eagles battled back from a 13 point deficit.  IUP shot 77.7% from the free throw line at the break.
 
Daugherty tried to rally The Lady Eagles early in the second half as she netted a three in the first minute.  Ryan netted two layups to narrow the Crimson Hawk lead as the Haven continued to battle from behind.   
 
IUP answered with two free throws and a three pointer to break away for an, 77-66 victory.
 
The Lady Eagles recorded 26 points in the paint and 19 points off turnovers.  LHU shot 100% from the free throw line in the second half. 
 
Lindsay Stamp led The Crimson Hawks with 25 points in 32 minutes of action. Ashley Stoner netted 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
 
Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, January 8 at Seton Hill (6 p.m.).
