LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (0-6, 0-5 PSAC East) fell to Shippensburg University (3-3, 2-3 PSAC East), 42-24 today in front of its home crowd at Hubert Jack Stadium.

The LHU football team, cheerleaders, fans and Lock Haven University were all wearing pink today, as the Bald Eagle community aimed to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Lock Haven got off to a quick start in today's game. The Haven marched down the field on a 10-play, 59-yard drive on the opening possession that culminated in a 26-yard field goal by
Alex Boumerhi (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola).

Shippensburg rallied back however, as the Red Raiders posted three consecutive scores and led, 21-3 early in the second quarter

The Bald Eagles offense responded with an outstanding, 18-play 76-yard scoring drive.Â
Beau Swales (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) capped off the drive with a two yard plunge into the endzone, cutting SHIP's lead to, 21-10 with 2:47 to play in the half.

The touchdown was Swales' first of the season.

The Red Raiders went on the offensive with just 2:40 left in the half, driving the ball deep into Bald Eagle territory. SHIP settled for a 24-yard field goal attempt to end the half, but this time, the LHU defense stood tall as
Tyrai Anderson (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) flew around the end and sprawled out to block the kick to keep the score at, 21-10, Shippensburg.

The third quarter belonged to the Red Raiders, as they outscore LHU, 21-0 in the period, highlighted by Trevor Harman's second touchdown grab of the day with 55 seconds to play in the third. The touchdown was Harman's 58
th of his career, moving him into a tie with West Chester's Mike Washington for the most touchdown grabs in PSAC history.

Trailing, 42-10 in the fourth, the Bald Eagles' offense came to life.Â

Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) found
Jeremy Cornelius (Harrisburg, Pa./Temple) for a 25-yard touchdown pass.

After a Ship drive stalled, Walton again led the Bald Eagles down the field through the air. This time he found
Bernard Smack (State College, Pa./Shippensburg Univ.), who made the game's final score with an outstanding one-handed grab in the back of the endzone for a 15-yard TD.

Walton finished with 225 yards passing and the two touchdowns, as well as two interceptions. He added a team-high 34 yards rushing.

Cornelius led LHU with four catches for 81 yards. Smack finished with 5 catches for 57 yards.

George Christas (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) was all over the field defensively. He recorded a game-high 17 tackles (13 solo) to lead the Bald Eagle defense.

Chris Lawshe threw for 322 yards and three TDs for SHIP. Harman caught 15 passes on the day and totaled 97 yards.

Lock Haven heads back on the road next week when LHU travels to Cheyney on Saturday (October 18). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
