LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (5-11-1, 4-7 PSAC) closed the 2014 season at home with a 3-1 loss to nationally-ranked Bloomsburg (12-4-2, 9-2 PSAC).
The Bald Eagles took control of the match at the opening whistle and their early jump paid off as
Jesse Smith (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) scored his third goal of the season just 3:47 into the match to make it 1-0.
Despite Lock Haven controlling the game throughout much of the first half, the two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime.
Nate Conrad tied the match at 1-1 in the 12
th minute for Bloomsburg.
Second-half goals from Hamilton Rodkey and Spencer Conrad less than seven minutes apart in the final 10 minutes of the match put the game away for Bloomsburg.
Jonathan Howitt (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning Painted Post East) played well in goal for Lock Haven, finishing with three saves.
Prior to the start of today's match, the Bald Eagles took a moment to honor their two seniors –
Terence Meehan (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) and
Ben Weaver (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) for their many contributions to the program.
Bloomsburg received votes in this week's Division II National Poll.
Lock Haven finished the 2014 season 5-11-1 overall.
