Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (3-2) fell to Kutztown today, 5-4 in the championship game of the Builder Invitational hosted by the Apprentice School.

The Bald Eagles held a, 4-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, but Kutztown rallied to score four runs and steal the win.

Lock Haven, who fell to the Golden Bears in its first game of the tournament on Thursday, found themselves trailing, 1-0 early in the first inning.

Haven starter Chad Speigle (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch) allowed an unearned run in the first, but settled into his own from that point forward.

Speigle, a true freshman, scattered five hits over 5.1 innings and struck out three.

The game remained, 1-0 into the seventh inning, when the LHU bats sparked a rally.

Ryan Koch (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) led off the inning with a single followed by a bunt single by Jamie Eshleman (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land). Senior Tyler Yesensky (Endwell, N.Y./Old Dominion Univ.) drove Koch home with an RBI single that evened the game at, 1-1.

After a sacrifice bunt by Speigle, and a flyout, Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) came to the plate and ripped a two-out, two-RBI single to put LHU ahead for the first time, 3-1.

The Bald Eagles scored again in the eighth when Eshleman drove home The Haven's fourth run of the game with a single.

The, 4-1 lead was not enough, however as the Golden Bears answered with three hits and four runs in the eighth.

Lock Haven had the tying run just 180 feet from home at second base in the ninth, but was unable to bring the run across.

Koch, Eshleman and Yesensky all went 2-for-4 at the plate on the day.

Henritzy finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs.  He finished the tournament with a team best, .479 batting average, nine runs scored and drove in six RBI and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

LHU pitcher Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) was also named to the All-Tournament Team.  Nestor went 1-0 in two appearances, including a complete-game shutout against the Apprentice School yesterday.  He allowed just five hits in 10.1 innings, striking out nine and did not allow a single run.

Lock Haven is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, March 2 when the Bald Eagles travel to Pitt-Johnstown for two games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
