Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-19, 5-11 PSAC East) downed visiting Cheyney (4-21, 4-12 PSAC East), 73-61 tonight at Thomas Fieldhouse in the final game of the season.
With the win, the Lady Eagles finish the season 7-19 overall and 5-11 in PSAC East.
Tonight also marked Senior Day as Lock Haven honored
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy),
Alex Brehony (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights), and
Shaleta Heyward (Upper Darby, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) prior to the tip.
Leading the way tonight vs. Cheyney was Ryan with season-high 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Eagles went toe-to-toe with the Wolves for much of the first period. Cheyney held an, 37-34 advantage at the break.
LHU was quick to respond in the second period with two layups to tie the game 38-38 in the first two minutes of action.
From that point on both teams continued to battle until LHU took control of the game with a 10-point lead with under two minutes to play.
Heyward netted two free throws to seal an, 73-61 Haven win.
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) recorded 13 points and had four steals. Daugherty also dished out team-high six assists.
Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) netted a season-high 13 points. She netted a trio of threes and shot 100% from the free throw line.
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Univ. of Mansfield) netted 11 points and grabbed six boards in 27 minutes of action.
Junior
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) netted eight points and grabbed four rebounds.
Kyra Hines-Allen led Cheyney with 15 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Eagles recorded 32 points in the paint and shot 85% from the free throw line.
