Women’s Basketball drops nail-biter to visiting East Stroudsburg, 60-57

Daugherty led LHU with team-high 16 points; Hilliard records season-high 12 points

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-17, 2-9 PSACT East) was edged in PSAC East contest, 60-57 to visiting East Stroudsburg (12-9, 7-4 PSAC East) tonight.
 
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) led LHU with 16 points and six rebounds in 30 minutes of action.
 
The Lady Eagles were a force to be reckoned with in the first period gaining an early, 7-1 lead on ESU. 
 
East Stroudsburg held an, 30-27 advantage at the break.
 
Daugherty netted an early jumper in the second period to tie the game, 31-31 within the first two minutes of play.
 
The Lady Eagles held a defensive battle with the Warriors for much of the game, but it was not enough as East Stroudsburg sealed the win down the stretch.
 
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had an all-around performance for the Haven.  The sophomore netted 12 points and grabbed three rebounds.  Hilliard dished out three assists and added two steals in 24 minutes.
 
Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) added 11 points in the loss.
 
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) grabbed 11 rebounds and netted nine points for the Haven.  Senior Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) added eight rebounds.
 
Jessica Martin led East Stroudsburg with a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
 
The Lay Eagles recorded 26 points in the paint and recorded 26 points off the bench.
 
Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, February 12th against West Chester (6 p.m.).
