Box Score TROUTVILLE, Va. The Lock Haven University softball team fell to West Liberty 4-3 today in the first of five games in a weekend-swing through Virginia.
The Lady Eagles (4-7) were playing their first game since their trip to Florida two weeks ago.
Freshman
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) led LHU at the plate, going, 3-for-4 with a RBI.
Seniors
Taylor Magee (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and
Kassandra Atherton (Mount Unio, Pa./Mount Union) each went 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored.
Pitcher
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) struck out four in the loss. She scattered six hits over seven innings.
West Liberty (away team) struck early, plating two runs in the top half of the first inning.
LHU was quick to strike back, however and tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.
The Hilltoppers tacked on two more in the top of the sixth and a Lock Haven rally in the bottom of the seventh, could only muster up one run as LHU fell, 4-3.
LHU's three runs came off eight hits, while WLU plated its four runs on six hits.
Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, March 15) with a pair of games at the Botetourt Complex in Troutville, Va. LHU takes on Winston-Salem at 1 p.m. and Ohio Valley at 3 p.m.
