Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TROUTVILLE, Va. – The Lock Haven University softball team (5-8) split a pair of games today at the Botetourt Complex in Troutville, Virginia.
 
The Lady Eagles opened the day with a 4-2 loss to Winston-Salem, but bounced back with a convincing 8-0 (6 innings) shutout over Ohio Valley.
 
LHU plated a pair of runs on five hits in the loss to Winston-Salem.
 
The five hits came from five different players, including freshman Michelle Holweger (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), who led off the sixth inning with her first career home run.
 
The solo shot tied the game at 2-2.
 
Pitcher Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) struck out five in the loss.
 
The Lady Eagles rode a stellar pitching effort from rookie Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) in the win over Ohio Valley.
 
Mouillesseaux held Ohio Valley hitless through the first three innings and she finished with a career-high nine strikeouts. She allowed just two hits.
 
The Lady Eagles bats were impressive as well, as LHU tagged Ohio Valley for eight runs on nine hits.
 
Lock Haven jumped on OVU early thanks to three runs in the top of the second.
 
Highlighting the early scoring was Morgan Palmer's (Canton, Pa./Canton) first career home run. It was a two-run blast that made it 3-0 LHU.
 
Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Taylor Magee (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
 
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) drove in a pair of runs and Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) added a two-run homer in the sixth as Lock Haven's offense helped LHU roll.
 
Yesterday (Friday), Lock Haven opened its five-game swing in Virginia with a 4-3 loss to West Liberty.
 
The Lady Eagles wrap up play in Virginia tomorrow (Sunday, March 16) with a pair of games as the Moyer Complex in Salem, Va. LHU takes on Fairmont State at 9 a.m. and plays No. 22 West Virginia Wesleyan at 11 a.m. The Moyer Complex in Salem is the venue where the Lady Eagles won their 2006 and '09 NCAA Division II National Championships.
