Softball drops two in Salem

Lady Eagles fall to Fairmont State 7-3 & #22 West Virginia Wesleyan 7-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. – The Lock Haven University softball team (5-10) dropped its final two games of its weekend trip to Virginia.
 
Lock Haven opened the day with a 7-3 loss to Fairmont State and the Lady Eagles fell to No. 22 West Virginia Wesleyan 7-2.
 
Both Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) and Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored in the loss to Fairmont State.
 
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) struck out four in relief.
 
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs in the loss to West Virginia Wesleyan. Highlighting the day was her second home run of the season.  
 
The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 18 at Georgian Court (2:30/4:30 p.m.). LHU is scheduled to take on Goldey-Beacom on Thursday (March 20, 2/4 p.m.) before opening PSAC East play this weekend at West Chester and Millersville.

After 15 games this season, freshman Michelle Holweger leads LHU at the plate with a .409 batting average (18-for-44) … Holweger has nine RBIs and two home runs … Taylor Magee is hitting .333 on the season … Today (Sunday), the Lady Eagles played at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia, the site of Lock Haven's 2006 and 2009 National Championships.
