Box Score 2 BLOOMSBURG, PA. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (8-7, 0-2 PSAC East) dropped both games of a doubleheader today to Bloomsburg University on the road in The Haven's first PSAC East Conference games of the season.
The Bald Eagles fell in game one, 7-1 and dropped game two, 8-7.
Lock Haven scored its one run on four hits in the game one loss.
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) drove in LHU's lone run on a third inning single.
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) went 1-for-3 with a double for LHU.
Five of the Huskies seven runs scored off of LHU starter
Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) were unearned.
Nestor threw a complete-game, but was handed his first loss of the season.
Casey Cooperman threw a complete-game for Bloomsburg and struck out four.
Lock Haven fell behind, 8-2 after two innings in game two, but the Bald Eagles were relentless and came storming back.
The Haven chipped away at the Bloomsburg lead with two runs in the third and three more in the fifth to cut the deficit to, 8-7.
LHU put the game-tying run on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, but were unable to even the score.
The Bald Eagles out-hit the Huskies, 10-8 in the game.
Botts went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead LHU.
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) was 2-for-4 with a double and he scored three runs.
Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) was 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs.
Karlston VonKiel (Alburtis, Pa./West Mont-Christian) came in relief of Haven starter
Jacob Belinda (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) in the third inning and threw very well. VonKiel allowed just two hits over 4.0 innings of work. He struck out two.
Lock Haven is right back in action tomorrow (Sunday, March 23) when the Bald Eagles host Bloomsburg at Foundation Field for the 2014 Home Opener. Tomorrow's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
