Softball opens PSAC East action with split at WCU

LHU officially opens PSAC East play with split at nationally-ranked West Chester

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEST CHEST, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team split its first-ever PSAC East doubleheader today at West Chester University.
 
Lock Haven (6-11, 1-1 PSAC East) dropped game one, 4-2, but the Lady Eagles downed West Chester (12-9, 1-1 PSAC East), 6-4 in game two. West Chester received votes in this week's NFCA Division II national poll.
 
Lock Haven led 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh in game one, but West Chester's Jill Murray hit a three-run home run with one out to give WCU the walk-off victory.
 
Taylor Magee (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was 3-for-4 at the plate with a RBI and run scored.
 
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) went 2-for-4 with a RBI.
 
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) struck out four in the loss.
 
The game-two win snapped a three-game losing streak as LHU plated six runs on nine hits.
 
Holweger was at it again with a 2-for-4 plate performance. She drove in one and scored twice.
 
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) was 2-for-3 with one run scored and a RBI.
 
Both Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) and Probst drove in a pair of runs.
 
Probst picked up the win in the circle.
 
Lock Haven is right back at it tomorrow (Sunday, March 23) at 1 p.m. on the road at Millersville in a PSAC East doubleheader.
