Baseball takes two from D&E; Haven goes 3-0 on weekend in North Carolina

Bald Eagles take game one, 10-7 and win game two, 3-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 THOMASVILLE, N.C. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (6-2) continued its hot start to the season today with two wins over Davis & Elkins in Thomasville, N.C.

The two wins push Lock Haven to an early season record of 6-2, which is LHU's best start since the Bald Eagles were 6-2 in 2011.

Lock Haven won game one today, 10-7 and edged the Senators in game two, 3-2.

The Bald Eagles got off to a great start in game one, scoring nine runs in the first three innings and despite being out-hit, 11-4 in the game, Lock Haven came away with the win.

LHU was patient at the plate all game and drew seven walks and two hit-by-pitches.

Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) went 1-for-3 including a solo homerun to lead LHU at the plate.  He added three runs scored.

Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain), Ryan Koch (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) and Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) each had one hit for The Haven.

Haven starting pitcher Maddison Neddo (Earleville, Md./Coppin State Univ.) picked up his first win of the season.  Neddo went 4.1 innings and struck out five.

Chad Speigle (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch) closed the door with 2.2 solid innings of relief.

Lock Haven won game two, 3-2 behind the arm of freshman Jacob Belinda (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone).

Belinda was outstanding, as he scattered five hits in 6.2 innings, allowing just two runs.  He struck out five and picked up his first win of his young career.

Aaron Lidgett (Morrisdale, Pa./West Branch) picked up his second save in as many days as closed out the final out of the game.

Kyne led LHU with two hits in game two and he drove in one RBI.
LHU defeated Davis & Elkins, 9-7 yesterday and went a perfect 3-0 against the Senators this weekend.

The Bald Eagles return to action next Saturday (March 15) when LHU travels to Florida for its annual spring break trip.  Lock Haven is scheduled to play six games while in Florida.

Lock Haven won all three of its games against Davis & Elkins this weekend…The Bald Eagles are now 6-2 this year and have won six of their last seven games…LHU finished second at the Builder Invitational to start the year…LHU will travel to Florida over spring break next week where The Haven is scheduled to play six games.
