Softball sweeps Millersville with pair of shutouts

Lock Haven takes game one, 2-0 and drops Marauders 6-0 in game two

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team picked up a pair of shutout-wins over visiting Millersville University to sweep the Marauders in PSAC East action.
 
The Lady Eagles (10-21, 5-11 PSAC East) took game one 2-0 and jumped on Millersville (16-18, 6-10 PSAC East) early in game two on the way to a 6-0 win.
 
Lock Haven was led by a pair of strong pitching outings from Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) and Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin).
 
Earlier this season (March 23), LHU dropped a pair of games at Millersville.
 
Lock Haven entered today's action coming off back-to-back splits vs. Bloomsburg and Mansfield.

With Mouillesseaux and Millersville's Amanda Wink locked up a in scoreless pitcher's duel, The Haven's Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) finally gave LHU the offensive surge it needed.
 
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Pooler delivered a pinch-hit, two-RBI single to leftfield providing the go ahead and eventual game-winning runs.
 
Kelsey Harris (Williamsport, Pa./Seton Hill Univ.) was 2-for-2 at the plate.
 
Mouillesseaux was masterful in the circle, allowing just two hits, while recording five strikeouts.
 
Game 2 Recap:
 
Lock Haven jumped on Millersville early in game two, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first.
 
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) drove in a pair of runs.
 
Probst was sensational as she threw a two-hit shutout. She didn't surrender a walk and struck out one over seven innings.
 
The Lady Eagles are set for a busy couple days, returning to action tomorrow (Sunday, April 13) vs. West Chester at 1 p.m. Lock Haven will also host East Stroudsburg on Monday.
 
*Please note, the ESU game scheduled for Monday was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but moved up a day because of the threat of weather.
