Lock Haven takes down No. 23 West Chester 3-0 & 4-1; Lady Eagles extend wins streak to five games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team swept No. 23 West Chester University today in PSAC East action, extending the Lady Eagles win streak to five games.
 
The Lady Eagles (12-21, 7-11 PSAC East) won 3-0 and 4-1 on the way to the sweep of PSAC East leading West Chester (26-13, 13-5 PSAC East).
 
The game-one win marked Lock Haven's third straight shutout and when the Golden Rams finally scored a run in the top of the third in game two, it broke up Lock Haven's 25 straight innings of shutout ball.
 
The Lady Eagles got two more stellar outings from pitchers Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) and Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), who limited West Chester's potent offense to just eight hits and one run in 14 innings.
 
Game 1 Recap:
 
In game one, Mouillesseaux continued her run of success, picking up her fifth win of the season. The freshman gave up just three hits over seven innings and struck out a pair.
 
Leading 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, MaKaylah Holbert ( Ulster, Pa./Northeast Bradford) singled with two outs and drove in two runs to give Lock Haven the 3-1 lead.
 
Six different players recorded hits for LHU in the 3-1, game-one win.
 
Game 2 Recap:
 
In game two, Probst took to the circle and picked up her seventh win of the season with a five-hit effort. She struck out three and didn't surrender a walk on the way to the victory.
 
Lock Haven's four runs came off nine hits with.
 
Leading the way at the plate was Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) and Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin), who each had three hits.
 
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
 
The loss was the first of the year for West Chester pitcher Micaela McSpadden, who is now 9-1 on the season.
 
Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Monday, April 14) at 2:30 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host East Stroudsburg.
