Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Despite a tremendous effort on the mound in game two from pitcher
Madison Neddo (Earleville, Pa./Coppin State Univ.), the Lock Haven University baseball team couldn't salvage a split with visiting Kutztown University in PSAC East action today.
Lock Haven (11-22, 3-17 PSAC East) dropped game one 4-2 and Kutztown (21-16, 9-13 PSAC East) snuck out of town with a 1-0 game-two victory.
Neddo was a tough luck loser in game two, as the junior right-hander surrendered just three hits over seven innings. He struck out six and allowed just two free passes, but the Bald Eagles couldn't score a run in the nightcap.
Game 1 Recap: Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) and
Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) each drove in a run in the bottom of the second to give LHU a 2-1 lead, but Kutztown responded with three runs in the fifth.
Despite 10 hits, LHU couldn't push anymore runs over the plate and KU held on for the 4-2 win.
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) finished 3-for-4 at the plate.
Jacob Belinda (Port Matilda, Pa./Tyrone) took the loss after 4.2 innings of work. He allowed just two hits, but walked seven. Belinda struck out six.
Game 2 Recap: Game two featured a pair of masterful pitching performances from Neddo and Kutztown's Zach Wasson. Wasson struck out four and gave up just five hits in 5 2/3 innings on the hill.
The Golden Bears scored the game's only run on a suicide squeeze in the fourth.
Henritzy again was Lock Haven's big bat, finishing with a pair of hits and capping his day at the plate with a 5-for-7 (.714) performance.
Matt Swarmer picked up a save for Kutztown in both games.
Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, April 19) at Kutztown (1/3 p.m.).
