Mouillesseaux, Lady Eagles sweep IUP

Edwards hits walkoff RBI-single in bottom of 10th in game-two thriller

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team swept visiting IUP today in a non-conference thriller.
 
Lock Haven (18-23) won game one, 3-0 and the Lady Eagles slipped past the Crimson Hawks (23-13) 6-5 on a walkoff hit in the bottom of the 10th inning in game two.
 
Haven pitcher Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) picked up the win in both games, as she dominated the IUP. Over a total of 11 1/3 innings, Mouillesseuax only allowed three hits.
 
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th in game two - Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) drilled a ball back toward the shortstop, driving in Michelle Holweger (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) for the win.
 
Game 1 Recap:
 
Mouillesseaux picked up her ninth win of the year with a two-hit, complete-game shutout. She struck out five and walked just two.
 
Lock Haven scored all three runs in the bottom of the third.
 
Holweger doubled to left center and drove in Kelsey Harris (Williamsport, Pa./Seton Hill Univ.) to open the scoring. Taylor Magee (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) drove in a pair of runs on one of her two, game-one hits.
 
Game 2 Recap:
 
Mouillesseaux worked the final 4 1/3 innings of game two on the way to the win -  her 10th of the season. She struck out four and allowed just one hit.
 
Edwards was the hero as she drove in the game-winning run in extra innings.
 
Lock Haven scored its six runs on 13 hits.
 
Edwards finished 2-for-6 at the plate with a run scored and three RBIs.
 
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) was 3-for-6 and Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
 
MaKaylah Holbert (Ulster, Pa./Northeast Bradford) added a pair of hits and Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) was 3-for-4 in the game-two win.
 
Lock Haven went 4-2 last week in PSAC East action, moving up and into fourth place in the PSAC East standings. The top-four teams from the East and West qualify for the PSAC Tournament.
 
The Lady Eagles have two PSAC East doubleheaders remaining. On Friday (April 25), Lock Haven hosts Mansfield (2:30 p.m.) before traveling to Shippensburg on Saturday.
