Box Score 2 MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (8-21, 3-11 PSAC East) won game two of today's PSAC East doubleheader at Mansfield University (13-7, 5-5PSAC East), earning an important split on the road.
Lock Haven dropped game one, 4-1, but the Lady Eagles earned a 7-6 win in game two.
LHU picked up six game-one hits and
Taylor Magee (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) drove in Lock Haven's only run.
Freshman pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) struck out six Mountaineers over seven innings.
The Lady Eagle bats came alive in game two as they scored seven runs on nine hits.
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) was the offensive story in game two, as she finished 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs.
Holweger put LHU up 3-0 in the top of the second with a three-run homer.
A five-run bottom of the third inning put MU up 5-3 after three.
A two-run homer in the fourth by Holweger highlighted a three-run inning for LHU and put the Lady Eagles back on top.
Again, Mansfield tied the game in the fifth, but LHU found the game-winning run in the top of the seventh when
Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) recorded a pinch-hit RBI-single.
Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) picked up a pair of hits in the win.
Mouillesseaux worked the final five innings of the game and recorded four strikeouts on the way to the win in the circle.
The Lady Eagles return to the diamond on Friday, April 11 when they host West Chester in PSAC East action.
