Volleyball goes 1-1 on Day 1 of Wheeling Jesuit Tournament

The Lady Eagles beat Shepherd but fall to nationally ranked Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. - The Lock Haven University volleyball team (5-1) went 1-1 today as the Lady Eagles opened play at the 2014 Wheeling Jesuit Tournament. 
 
Lock Haven (5-1) opened the day with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 25-23, & 25-16) win over Shepherd University, before falling 3-0 (15-25, 15-25, 20-25) to No. 11 and host Wheeling Jesuit.
 
With today's win, LHU head coach Dan Kreiger moves one step closer to career-win No. 100. He's now just one away.
 
Senior Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) continued her strong play leading LHU with 11 kills against Shepherd. 
 
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) added nine kills and two block assists in the win. 
 
Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) and Toryn Quivers (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) finished with eight kills, respectively. 
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) recorded 33 assists and 10 digs.
 
Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh,/Hopewell) recorded a game-high 23 digs, while Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) served up four aces in the win.
 
Hudak led the way against Wheeling Jesuit with 11 kills.
 
Brown recorded 29 assists and Belcastro added 26 digs.
 
LHU is right back at it tomorrow (Saturday, September 13) on Day 2 of the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament vs. LIU-Post (10 am).
