Volleyball opens season with win over Northwood

LHU Tournament resumes tomorrow with five matches; Haven plays Lake Erie at 7 p.m.

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University volleyball team (1-0) opened the 2014 season with a dominating 3-0 win over Northwood (0-1) tonight (Thursday, Sept. 4) as the Lady Eagles kicked off their own LHU Tournament.
 
Lock Haven won 25-17, 26-24 and 25-15.
 
With tonight's win, LHU head coach Dan Kreiger moves one step closer to career-win No. 100. He's now just five away.
 
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) led the way offensively with 13 kills. She hit .333, added three digs and two blocks.
 
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) chipped in with six kills and four blocks.
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) paced the offense with 25 assists, while adding 13 digs.
 
Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh/Hopewell) turned in a solid night and finished with 13 digs.
 
Lock Haven was picked fourth in the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Preseason Coaches' poll. Last year, LHU went 21-14 and 12-10 in PSAC action. Lock Haven is looking for its seventh consecutive PSAC playoff berth this season.
 
Lock Haven is right back in action tomorrow evening (September 5) when LHU hosts Lake Erie (7 p.m.) in day two of the LHU Tournament.
