Haven Hoops Weekly Preview: Women’s Basketball takes on Red Raiders of Shippensburg before returning home on Saturday

Lady Eagles currently tied for 5th in the PSAC after dominating win over Cheyney

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women's basketball team will square off with the Red Raiders of Shippensburg Wednesday (January 21) before returning home to host Bloomsburg, Saturday January 24.
 
Lock Haven is 4-10 overall (5-7 PSAC) and is looking to continue their two-game winning streak.  The lady Eagles are currently tied for 5th in the conference with Kutztown and East Stroudsburg.
 
Last time out:
The Lady Eagles are coming off a dominating, 82-52 win over the Wolves of Cheyney on Saturday, Jan. 17. 
 
The Haven attack was on fire, with four lady eagles recording double figures.  Senior Sami Lane netted a game-high 18 points, shooting 9-for-11 in the field, and recorded three steals.
 
Syvae McDaniel added 14 points in 15 minutes of action, and shot 6-7 from the free throw line.
 
Senior-guard Marrysa Moyer recorded a double-double and surpassed 1,000 career points in the win.  Moyer led LHU with 11 rebounds and added 13 points.
 
LHU netted 50 points in the paint, 33 bench points, and shot 75.0% from the free-throw line.

Lock Haven travels to Shippensburg on Wednesday (January 21) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East clash. 
 
Shippensburg enters this week 11-7 overall and 7-5 in conference after defeating Millersville on Saturday, 67-55.
 
The Red Raiders are 5-4 at home and on a four game winning streak. Shippensburg will host Lock Haven before traveling to Cheyney on Saturday, January 24.

Last time against Shippensburg
The Lady Eagles fell to the Red Raiders in both PSAC matchups of the 2013-14 season.   
 
In the last meeting of the season, LHU fell to Shippensburg by just eight points, as the Red Raiders earned a 69-61 victory.
 
Marrysa Moyer powered the Haven attack with 12 points and added four rebounds in the loss.  Moyer recorded four steals in 25 minutes of action.  
 
Stephanie Knauer led Shippensburg with 21 points and grabbed seven boards.

Lock Haven will host Bloomsburg in their first matchup of the 2014-15 season.
 
The Huskies are 13-2 overall and 11-1 in the conference, coming off a 70-57 win over Kutztown.
 
BU is schedule to host Millersville tomorrow before facing The Lady Eagles on Saturday.
 
Adreana Sadowski leads The Huskies with 12.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Last time vs. Bloomsburg:
The Haven was downed by Bloomsburg in both meetings of the 2013-14 season.
 
The Lady Eagles fell to BU at home in close, 66-62 loss and then on the road at Bloomsburg later in the season, 69-57.
 
Moyer and Emily Daugherty delivered an all-around effort, netting 12 and 11 points, respectively.
 
Moyer added five boards and Sami Lane dished out three assists.


Moyer joins elite 1000-point club:
Moyer's 13 points in Saturday's win over Cheyney ran her career point total to 1,005, making her just the 13th player in LHU women's basketball history to reach the prestigious 1,000-point club.
 
Needing eight points - entering the game - her 13-point, 11-rebound effort was the key in helping the Lady Eagles to their second straight PSAC East win.
 
Looking ahead:
Following Saturday's (Jan. 24) The Lady Eagles will be on the road for two conference matchups.  LHU will travel to East Stroudsburg (Wednesday, Jan. 28) before facing West Chester (away) on Saturday (January, 31).  The Lady Eagles return home Saturday, February 7 against Mansfield (2 p.m.).
