LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (13-9, 5-6 PSAC) opened the weekend today by going 1-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action. LHU opened the day with a thrilling, 3-2 win over Seton Hill, but the Bald Eagles dropped their second match of the day with California (Pa.), 3-1.
Lock Haven beat Seton Hill, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 22-25 & 18-16), thanks to another strong outing from
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll), who hit .250 with 22 kills.
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) and
Brittany Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) added 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while
Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) knocked down seven.
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) directed the offense with 51 assists and
Sydney Belcastro (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) led the defense with 25 digs.
Stick led LHU with four block assists, while Moyer and
Gabrielle Stala (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) each had three.
LHU dropped its second match of the day, falling to California, 3-1 (13-15, 25-12, 25-23 & 25-21).
Gomish led the Bald Eagles with 10 kills. Brown dished out 30 assists and Belcastro had 35 digs.
Lock Haven returns to the court tomorrow (Saturday, October 17) with a pair of home PSAC Crossover contests. LHU hosts IUP at 10 a.m. and takes on Clarion at 6 p.m.
