LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) threw for 342 yards and accounted for five total touchdowns sparking the Lock Haven University football team's offensive explosion that led to a 56-20 Homecoming victory over Cheyney University.
The 56 points scored for Lock Haven (1-6, 1-3 PSAC East) were the most since the Bald Eagles beat Edinboro, 56-21 in 1968. The dominating Homecoming win over Cheyney gave LHU its first win of the 2015 season and marked the first career win at The Haven for head coach
Dave Taynor.
Walton was nothing short of spectacular, throwing for over 300 yards for the second consecutive week. He was 18-for-24 for 342 yards and he matched his career-high with four touchdown passes, while throwing no interceptions.
Today marked Walton's fourth career game with four passing TDs in a game and he now has 41 career touchdown passes, the second-most in school history. His 342 yards passing also push him into second all-time with 5,013 passing yards.
Walton also rushed for a TD today, scoring on his only carry of the game.
David Cook (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) was Walton's main target today. He made five catches for 120 yards and two TDs.
Farrell Boyd (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) hauled in a touchdown pass, as did
Beau Swales (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield).
Swales also rushed for a score. He carried the ball 16 times for 69 yards.
Malyk Harris (Harrisburg, Pa./Albright College) nearly cracked the 100-yard rushing mark, finishing with 96 yards on 11 carries, including one that went for a score.
Caleb Kephart (Portage, Pa./Portage) added a TD on a 11-yard run to round out the Bald Eagle scorers. He also caught five passes for 58 yards.
Dan Krupko (Homeworth, Ohio/Urbana University) made three catches for 97 yards.
Mike Williams (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) led Lock Haven with a game-high 10 tackles, and
Aaron Hepburn (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) and
Carmelo Cruz (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) each had six stops.
As a unit, the Bald Eagles recorded four sacks, 10 tackles-for-a-loss, two fumble recoveries and
Daniel Strawbridge (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) had LHU's lone interception.
With the loss, Cheyney (0-7, 0-4 PSAC East) remained winless on the season.
Lock Haven jumped on the Wolves early, leading 21-0 after the first quarter and LHU led 35-13 at halftime.
The Bald Eagles hit the road for a Week 8 (Saturday, October 24) PSAC East game at Millersville (1 p.m.).
