Field Hockey set for a pair of weekend games

The LHU field hockey team hosts Appalachian State Friday, before traveling to Saint Louis on Sunday.

The LHU field hockey team is set for a pair of weekend contests.

In all, Lock Haven only has three regular season games remaining including two at home.

The Bald Eagles kick off the weekend on Friday, October 23 by hosting Appalachian State at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, October 25, LHU is at Saint Louis for an important Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) contest (2 p.m. EST).

Three things you need to know:
1. Senior forward Rachel Valentine continues to lead LHU offensively. Her team-high 12 goals and team-best 26 points (12G & 2A) are also tops in the A-10.

2. Lock Haven and Appalachian State have only met once, with LHU winning 6-0 in 2010.

3. The Bald Eagles are a perfect 5-0 vs. Saint Louis which includes a 3-1 victory last year. In five games, LHU has outscored Saint Louis, 20-4.

Some of the best in Division I:
Lock Haven's defense continues to shine and the Bald Eagles have recorded six shutouts this season, which ranks eighth in Division I (0.33 shutouts/game). LHU's 0.84 team goals against average is the second-best mark in DI field hockey.

Extra time, no problem:
LHU beat Rider, 2-1 in double-OT on October 2, marking Lock Haven's third OT game this season. LHU is 2-1 on the season in OT (1-1 double-OT).

A look at NCAA RPI:
The NCAA released its updated RPI rankings earlier today (Tuesday, October 20) and LHU was ranked No. 24. The Bald Eagles were the second-highest Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) team ranked after Richmond (No. 23).

A look at the schedule:
Of Lock Haven's three remaining games, two will be played at Charlotte Smith Field. The Bald Eagle are 8-1 at home this season. On the year, LHU is a perfect 11-0 in non-conference matches.
