Bonelli scores twice, but Women’s Soccer drops thriller

Sarah Bonelli scored twice, but the LHU women’s soccer team dropped a thriller to visiting Seton Hill, 4-3.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sarah Bonelli (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge) scored twice and Alexa Ream (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) tied the match late, but in the end the Lock Haven University women's soccer team (2-8, 2-7 PSAC) was edged 4-3 by visiting Seton Hill (5-5-1, 4-5-1 PSAC) in a thriller.

Seton Hill went up 1-0 in the ninth minute and made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute.

After going down 2-0, the Bald Eagles woke up and took control of the match, dominating the remainder of the second half.

LHU was rewarded in the 36th minute when Bonelli scored a sensational goal. Bonelli ran onto a Taylor Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) pass into the box – before tucking the ball far post under a diving Seton Hill goalkeeper.

Seton Hill made it 3-1 in the 54th minute, but again LHU fought back.

Bonelli scored her second of the game in the 59th minute when she ran onto a long ball into the box – split the last defender and goalie – before firing the ball into an open net.

LHU was awarded a penalty shot in the 87th minute and Ream tucked it home to tie the match at 3-3. It was Ream's first goal of the season.

Seton Hill's Alex McIntosh however netted the game-winner in the 89th minute.
