The LHU field hockey team caps its five-game homestand this week with matches vs. Massachusetts and Penn State.
The Bald Eagles host UMass on Friday, October 9 at 3 p.m. in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action. LHU will host Penn State in non-conference action on Sunday, October 11 at 1 p.m.
Lock Haven is coming off a huge conference win Sunday after the Bald Eagles downed first-place Davidson, 2-1. LHU is now 2-2 in A-10 action and 11-2 overall.
Massachusetts is the only A-10 team that LHU has never beaten. UMass leads the all-time series, 7-0.
On Sunday, LHU and Penn State will meet for the 43
rd time. Lock Haven is 21-18-3 all-time vs. PSU.
Three things you need to know:1. Senior forward
Rachel Valentine leads LHU with 10 goals, the most in the A-10.
2. Defender
Stephanie Whiteman has a conference-best seven defensive saves on the season.
3. Lock Haven's 0.80 team goals against average is No. 2 among all NCAA Division I teams.
Win streaks in 2015:LHU opened the 2015 season on a six-game win streak and the Bald Eagles have started a new win streak, and are winners of four straight entering Friday's game.
Extra time, no problem:Last Friday, LHU beat Rider, 2-1 in double-OT, marking Lock Haven's third OT game this season. LHU is 2-1 on the season in OT (1-1 double-OT).
A look at NCAA RPI:The NCAA released its updated RPI rankings on Tuesday and LHU was ranked No. 27. UMass checked in at No. 31 and Penn State was ranked No. 34.
