KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women's basketball team's (11-16) season came to end today, as the Lady Eagles fell to Kutztown University (12-15), 74-52 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Round Tournament action.

Lock Haven was led by
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) and
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), who each scored 16 points.
Â
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) added eights point.
Â
Moyer was outstanding for Lock Haven's and capped her career with a double-double, thanks to an 11-rebound effort.

Daugherty added five rebounds and Hillard added three assists.
Â
The trio of Moyer, Hillard and Daugherty scored 40 of Lock Haven's 52 points.

Today marked Lock Haven's first PSAC playoff game since the 1990-91 season. The Lady Eagles last playoff win came during the 1991 semifinals, when LHU beat West Chester, 93-65, before falling to Clarion in the PSAC title game.

Both Lock Haven and Kutztown finished the regular season with identical 11-15 overall records and both teams were 10-12 in PSAC East action.

LHU and Kutztown split during the regular season series with the home team winning on each occasion. Lock Haven entered the game as the PSAC East's fifth-seed, while KU was the No. 4 seed.

With 7:37 left in the first half, Kutztown led by four, 16-12, but the Golden Bears went on a hot-shooting stretch over the next 4:15 and stretched the lead to 13 (27-14) - with just over three minutes to play in the first half.

At the end of the first half, Kutztown led LHU, 34-18. The Golden Bears shot a red-hot 47 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

Moyer and Daugherty each had six points at the break. Daugherty hit a pair of 3-pointers.

A quick 4-0 spurt to start the second half was all Lock Haven needed to get the offense going. After trailing by 16 at the break, LHU trailed by 10 with 15:57 left in the game.

At the second half's under-12 media timeout (11:44), the Kutztown lead was down to five, 44-39. A Hilliard 3-pointer with 12:17 left, made it 42-39, but the Golden Bears were quick to answer with two more on an Advia Campbell layup just before the media timeout.

With 7:34 left in the game, the Kutztown lead was back to 10, 51-41 and LHU couldn't find the scoring touch, despite a number of good-looks. The Golden Bears strong-shooting continued, and KU led by 17 with just under four minutes to play, as Kutztown pulled away over final stretch.

With the win, Kutztown advances to the quarterfinals and will meet the PSAC East's top-seed – Bloomsburg on Tuesday (March 3) night at 7 p.m.
