#2 Lacrosse opens 2015 season with 15-4 win over Tiffin

Senior Rachel Ward leads Haven with 7 goals

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (1-0) opened the 2015 season with a solid, 15-4 win over Tiffin University (0-1) today at Lycoming College.
 
LHU was firing on all cylinders as six Lady Eagles filled up the score sheet in the all-around Haven victory. 
 
The Lady Eagles were led by senior Rachel Ward (Indianapolis/Bishop Chatard) who tallied a game-high seven goals, four of which were in the first half of play.
 
Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) added four goals and two draw controls in the win.
 
After holding a slim, 5-2 advantage at the break Lock Haven gained momentum and recorded nine unanswered goals in the second half, for the 15-4 Haven win.
 
Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) led the midfield with five draw controls.
 
Sophomore Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) directed the LHU attack, dishing out four assists and grabbing two ground balls.
 
Defensively, Lock Haven was sensational, recording 14-for-16 successful clear attempts. 
 
Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton) and Christina Hawkins (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) led LHU with six combined caused turnovers.    
 
Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) started between the pipes for Lock  Haven, recording six saves in the win.
 
Emily Roussel led Tiffin with three goals.
 
The Lady Eagles return to action on Monday (March 9) when Lock Haven hosts Monroe Community College in an exhibition game at Bucknell University (4 p.m.).
