Baseball closes season with split on Senior Day against Kutztown

Neddo throws complete-game shutout in game one

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University baseball team split the final two games of the 2015 season today against Kutztown at Foundation Field.

Lock Haven (13-24, 11-17 PSAC East) took game one from Kutztown (18-22, 9-19 PSAC East), 2-0, but LHU dropped game two, 10-7.

The Bald Eagles honored their five seniors, Tyler Carns (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring), Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), Madison Neddo (Earlville, Md./Coppin State Univ.), Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) and Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) before the game.

Lock Haven won three of the four games in this weekend's series with Kutztown.

Game 1 Recap: W, 2-0

Neddo pitched an outstanding game one for LHU.  Neddo, a senior, went the distance in his final outing at Foundation Field.  He struck out three and picked up his third win of the year.

The Bald Eagles jumped out to an early, 1-0 lead after the first inning.  After a two-out single by Henritzy, Botts came to the plate and roped a line drive over the left fielder's head to the fence.  Henritzy scored all the way from first on the play.

Lock Haven added its second run in the third inning when Justin Sleigh (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) drove home Botts with an RBI single.

The two runs were more than enough for Neddo.

Botts finished 1-for-1 with the double and two walks.  He also threw out two Golden Bears who were trying to steal.

Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) went 2-for-3 with a run scored for LHU.

Game 2 Recap: L, 10-7

Lock Haven dropped game two, 10-7.

All nine Bald Eagles who started had a hit in the game.

Ryan Koch (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) led LHU at the plate going 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Ethan Moore (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

Mike Agosto (Bushkill, Pa./Northampton C.C.) was also 2-for-3 and drove in one RBI.

Kutztown scored nine runs in the first four innings to take control of the game.

Today's doubleheader was the final regular season games of the 2015 season.

Despite today's efforts, the Bald Eagles were eliminated from playoff contention when East Stroudsburg won its first game of the day over Bloomsburg.
