LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team closed the 2015 season with a split over visiting Millersville University today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Action (PSAC) on Lawrence Field.
Lock Haven (15-27, 11-17 PSAC) took game one and jumped to an early, 8-3 win before falling to Millersville University (20-24, 10-17 PSAC) in game two, 3-2.
Between games today, Lock Haven took time to honor its four seniors –
Kelsey Harris (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock),
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) and
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton for all their contributions to the program.
Game 1 Recap: LHU was firing on all cylinders in game one, recording eight hits and eight runs on the way to a dominating, 8-3 Haven victory.
Leading the way in game one was
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) with a home run down the left field line in the first inning to lead, 1-0.
Harris drove in two runs with a double in the second inning to lengthen the LHU lead, 3-0.
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) and
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) split time on the mound. Mouillesseaux recorded five strikeouts through four innings.
After an explosive, five-run final inning Lock Haven sealed the win.
Game 2 Recap: Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) ignited the Haven offense in the second inning with a double to send Holweger home. LHU trailed the Marauders, 2-1.
After two scoreless innings, Smith singled to left field to send Holbert home as LHU tied the game, 2-2.
Millersville responded in the sixth inning to lead LHU, 3-2 and seal the win.
Mouillesseaux recorded a solid game through seven innings, allowing only one run. Mouillesseaux recorded six strikeouts and allowed four hits.
Lock Haven finished the 2015 season 15-27, and the Lady Eagles were 11-17 in PSAC play.
