LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshman
Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport) scored the game's only goal in the 48
th minute and the Lock Haven University field hockey team (8-2, 1-2 A-10) topped host La Salle (2-6, 0-2 A-10), 1-0 today in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action.
The win moved the Bald Eagles to 8-2 on the season and marked their first A-10 win of the year.
After a scoreless first half, Smith scored her third goal of the season in the 48
th minute and it proved to be the game's only scoring in the defensive battle.
Haven goalkeeper
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) returned to the cage, but wasn't forced to make a save in 70 minutes of action.
Stephanie Whiteman (Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago/Bishop Anstey East) led a solid defensive charge.
The 1-0 victory marked Lock Haven's fourth shutout of the season.
LHU returns to action on Tuesday, September 29 at 7 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Bucknell.
