Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Shoff’s two goals lift LHU over Mercyhurst

Freshman Jordan Shoff made the most of her home-Haven debut, as she scored twice to lead the LHU women’s soccer team over Mercyhurst, 2-1.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshman Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban) scored twice to lead the Lock Haven University women's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 PSAC) over visiting Mercyhurst (0-1-1, 0-1-1 PSAC) 2-1 today in conference action.

Shoff made her home debut a special one, scoring the first two goals of her career in remarkable fashion.

The game also marked the Bald Eagles first on their new field at Foundation Field Soccer Complex.

Shoff's first goal came in the 12th minute after she ran onto a long Danielle Mauro (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) pass and cut by the last Laker defender, before tucking the ball far post.

LHU led 1-0 at halftime, but Shoff got it going again in the second after she bolted through the Laker defense and onto another long ball. Shoff collected the ball, sprinted toward the goal alone and neatly put it home for the 2-0 lead. Carly Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) was credited with the assist.

The Lakers found the scoreboard in the 67th minute after Nicole McAlpin scored.

LHU withstood a late-game push from Mercyhurst and Haven goalkeeper Morgan Euston (Newton, N.J./Newton) made a solid save in the final moments to preserve the win. She made seven saves in all.

Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, September 9 at 4 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host No. 25 Kutztown University.
