CHEYNEY, Pa. – Behind a career-night offensively from freshman
Jordyn Topping (Lorton, Va./Hayfield), the Lock Haven University volleyball team (2-11, 1-5 PSAC) powered past host Cheyney University (2-10, 0-5 PSAC) 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-14 & 25-11) tonight.
Topping led the Bald Eagles offense with 13 kills and she hit a sizzling .458, both of which marked career-highs for the rookie.
Despite dropping the first set, LHU rebounded in a big way and rattled off wins in three straight sets to return to the win column and snap a four-match losing skid.
Leading 2-1, the Bald Eagles turned it up a notch in the fourth set, hitting .423 as a team with 15 kills.
Chloe Williams (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) added nine kills and
Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) knocked down eight.
Olivia Sass (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) dished out 29 assists and
Sydney Belcastro (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) had 15 digs.
The Bald Eagles return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 8) at 1 p.m. at West Chester.
