Setting the Stage:
The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (2-0) returns home to host No. 19 IUP in its home opener Saturday, November 19 at 3 p.m. and then Seton Hill University Sunday, November 20 at 3 p.m.
Saturday's game with IUP also marks Veteran's Appreciation Day in Thomas Fieldhouse. LHU Athletics, along with the LHU Student Veteran Alliance (SVA) is hosting the Veteran's Appreciation Day to thank and support our many local veterans, and all they've done for the country, and continue to do for our local community.
The Opponents:
IUP enters the contest boasting a 3-0 record with wins over Lincoln, Urbana and Bowie State. In the Crimson hawk's three victories they scored 101, 91 and 80 points, respectively.
Like The Bald Eagles, IUP played NCAA Division I exhibition contests. The Crimson Hawks traveled to Atlantic Coast Conference powerhouse Syracuse, where they fell 83-65. IUP also took on the returning NCAA Division I National Champions, Villanova. Villanova dropped the Crimson Hawks 94-49.
As of November 16, Seton Hill has a 1-1 record after a loss on the road at Ohio Dominican. The Griffins travel to Mansfield University Saturday afternoon before their contest with the Bald Eagles.
Last Time Out:
LHU went 2-0 over the past weekend with wins over Penn State Fayette (94-53) and Penn State Wilkes Barre (79-64).
Amir Hinton averaged 22.5 points in the Bald Eagles victories and was placed on the Wolfe's Bus Lines Classic All-Tournament Team.
Ra'eese Hunt,
Jihad Barnes and
Craig Slade all finished in the double-digits in the victory over Penn State Fayette.
Hunt also dropped 17 points in the Bald Eagles victory over Penn State Wilkes Barre.
PSAC East Freshman of the Week:
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) of the Lock Haven University men's basketball team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Freshman of the Week.
Hinton led LHU to a 2-0 weekend at the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic hosted by Shippensburg University. Over the two-game span he averaged 22.5 points per game, which is the second-best scoring mark in the PSAC.
In the win over Penn State Fayette, Hinton shot 10 of 17 from the field and finished with 21 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.
In the win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre, he scored 24 points and he grabbed seven more rebounds.
