Women’s Basketball ready for first homestand against PSAC West foes

Setting the stage:
The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (1-1) is set to host its first homestand of the 2016-17 season this coming weekend against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West schools. On Saturday, November 19th they will host Indiana (PA) (0-2), followed by a matchup against Seton Hill (1-1 as of 11/16) on Sunday, November 20th.
 
The Haven opened up its campaign last weekend at the MEC/PSAC Challenge hosted by Fairmont University. The Bald Eagles beat Concord University in their first game by a score of 62-53. Then fell to host Fairmont State 53-92.
 
LHU led a balanced attack versus Concord seeing three players reach double figures in points including Mackenzie Livingston, Madison McHale, and Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh. Lysa Mealing and Maimuna Kenneh also combined for 12 and 11 rebounds respectively. Against Fairmont State Mealing and Kenneh both recorded a double-double, each scoring 15 poitnts and hauling in 10 rebounds.
 
Going into this weekend's action Mealing and Kenneh are ranked two and three in the PSAC in rebounds per game.
 
The opposition:
IUP also got the chance to take the court against Division I teams early this year in exhibition play. They travelled to take on perennial powerhouse University of Connecticut and then traveled to face University Pittsburgh. The Crimson Hawks then opened up regular season play at the Wolf's Bus Line Classic where they dropped both contests. They lost to Bowie State 45-59 followed by a close loss to UVA-Wise 51-54.
 
Seton Hill opened up its season at the PSAC/CIAA crossover. In the first game they defeated Fayetteville State 82-72, however fell to Johnson C. Smith 64-78.
 
PSAC East Freshman of the Week:
Maimuna Kenneh earned the honor of PSAC East Freshman of the Week for her tremendous play at the MEC/PSAC Challenge over the weekend.
 
Through two games, Kenneh is leading Lock Haven in points with 11.5 per game. She is also contributing 10.5 rebounds per game, which is second-best on the team.
 
Kenneh added four assists and two blocks in her first two games.
