LHU heads to Georgian Court Sunday

The LHU women’s basketball team is set for a non-conference tilt on Sunday, December 18 at Georgian Court.

The Lock Haven University women's basketball team will return to the hardwood on Sunday, December 18 when the Bald Eagles head to Georgian Court (1 p.m.) for a non-conference clash.  

The Bald Eagles will tip at 1 p.m.

LHU's last time out:
On Saturday, December 10, Lock Haven outscored Pitt-Johnstown 21-4 in the fourth quarter and got double-double efforts from both Ayanda McGill-Jefferson and Lsya Mealing in a 59-49 PSAC win at UPJ. McGill-Jefferson had 21 points and 11 rebounds, both career-highs and Mealing netted 11 points to along with a 20-rebound effort.
 
Last time vs. Georgia Court:
Last season (Nov. 28, 2015), LHU beat Georgian Court 76-50. Lock Haven is 3-0 all-time vs. Georgian Court.
 
McGill-Jefferson named PSAC East Player of the Week:
On Monday, December 12, sophomore Ayanda McGill-Jefferson was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week. The Bald Eagles picked up a big conference win at Pitt-Johnstown thanks in large part to the play of McGill-Jefferson, who recorded a monster double-double. She netted a game-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Both her points and rebounds were career-highs. The all-around sensational effort didn't end there as she also recorded three steals, three blocks and three assists.
 
Back on track:
After a 1-3 start to the season, LHU is back to .500 and has won three of its last four games including two wins in the last three PSAC outings. Lock Haven is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in PSAC play.
 
McHale the leading scorer:
Madison McHale leads LHU in scoring with 12.1 points per game. Ayanda McGill-Jefferson adds 8.8 points per game:
 
Strong on the glass:
Lysa Mealing is averaging a conference-best 11.5 rebounds per game. She ranks 14th among all NCAA Division II players.

LHU will close out the 2016 calendar portion of its schedule on Friday, December 30 at 2 p.m. vs. Mercyhurst (PSAC).
