LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) netted 19 points and was one of four players in double-figures as another balanced offensive night from the Bald Eagles led the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (12-11, 8-11 PSAC) to an important 94-88 conference win over Cheyney University (2-18, 1-16 PSAC).
Hunt was 5 of 9 from the floor and 9 of 10 from three throw line.
Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) and
Shawn Church (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) each scored 13 points and
Al Blount (Allentown, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) found himself in double-figures with 11.
Julian Bond (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) came off the bench and was a perfect 3 for 3 from 3-point range.
Lamin Fulton (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti) and
Craig Slade (Philadelphia/Constitution) scored seven points apiece and
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) rounded out a strong scoring night for Lock Haven with six points.
Jackson and Hunt each had eight rebounds, while Renniger added three rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Fulton dished out six assists and Church had four.
Despite trailing by two at the break, 40-38, LHU saw a strong first-half shooting performance from Blount, who connected on 3 of 4 shots from downtown on the way to his 11 points in the opening 20 minutes.
LHU shot 52 percent in the opening half.
Lock Haven hosts Bloomsburg University on Saturday, February 13 at 4 p.m. (Senior Day & Alumni Appreciation Day).
