EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Despite 16 points from
Dave Garcia (Scotrun, Pa./Pocono Mt. East), the Lock Haven University men's basketball team was downed 82-59 by host East Stroudsburg (21-6) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Round Tournament action.
Shawn Church (Ridley, Pa./Ridley) and
Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) scored 12 points apiece and
Craig Slade (Philadelphia/Constitution) led The Haven with 12 rebounds.
Jackson was the leader all over the court and finished with nine rebounds and three steals to go along with his solid scoring effort.
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) added eight points and
Elijah Cooper (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) chipped in with seven points, and three rebounds.
East Stroudsburg led 41-27 at halftime after the Warriors shot 55 percent from the field over the first 20 minutes. Rasheed Moore led all ESU scorers with 12 points.
Church matched Moore in the first half with 12 points of his own and Garcia hit a pair of 3's on the way to eight first-half points.
Moore finished the game with 19 points and was one of four ESU players in double-figures.
Today's First Round game marked Lock Haven's third straight PSAC Tournament appearance, something the Bald Eagles haven't done since the 1987-88, 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons.
This is Lock Haven's 11
th all-time PSAC Tournament appearance.
With the loss, Lock Haven finishes the season at 12-15 overall.
