Baseball opens PSAC play, splits doubleheader with Kutztown

LHU falls in game one 5-4, but Haven wins game two 6-2

WILSON, N.C. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (5-6, 1-1 PSAC East) split a doubleheader with Kutztown University (10-9, 1-1 PSAC East) today in Wilson, North Carolina.
 
The two games were the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division games of the year for both teams.
 
Kutztown held on to win game one 5-4, but the Bald Eagles battled back and won game two 6-2.
 
Lock Haven trailed KU 5-1 heading into the final inning of game one before the Bald Eagles mounted a rally.  LHU scored three runs in the frame and brought the tying run around to third base before Kutztown finally was able to secure the win.
 
Matt Lahn (Georgetown, Ontario/Erie Community College) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the game.
 
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
 
Justin Sleigh (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) had a double and an RBI in three at-bats.
 
Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) suffered his first loss of the season on the mound for LHU.  Watson went the distance and struck out two while scattering 11 hits.
 
Mike Anthony (Audubon, Pa./North Hampton Community College) was the story in the game two win for LHU.
 
Anthony was brilliant on the mound, as he allowed just two hits in seven innings and struck out eight on his way to his second win of the season.
 
Lock Haven scored all six of its runs in the third and fourth innings'.
 
Jimmy Webb (Williamsport, Pa./Wake Forest) was 2-for-3 in the game with two RBIs.
 
Jamie Eshleman (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) also drove in two runs in the game and was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
 
Szaflarski added another solid performance at the plate, as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
 
Lock Haven and Kutztown are right back in action tomorrow when the two teams square off for the final two games of the weekend series.  First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
