LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team is off to a 2-0 start and outscoring its opponents 16-1 so far this season.
The Bald Eagles will look to extend that strong start this weekend with a pair of games. Lock Haven is set to host Siena on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m., before heading to No. 5 Penn State on Sunday (Sept. 11) at 12 p.m.

Strong start:
The Bald Eagles are off to a red-hot 2-0 start and the offense has been the big story so far. In each of the first two games, LHU scored eight goals in lopsided wins over Sacred Heart (W, 8-1) and Towson (W, 8-0). The defense has been up to the task as well and allowed just one goal in 140 minutes of play. In the win over Towson, LHU allowed just one shot.
Saturday vs. Siena:
LHU is 9-0 all-time vs. Siena and won last year's clash, 2-0. It was one of seven shutouts last season.
44th meeting with local-rival Penn State:
Sunday marks the 44
th meeting between LHU and PSU with less than 40 miles separating the central Pennsylvania Division I field hockey powers. Last season, LHU beat Penn State 1-0 for The Haven's first win over the Nittany Lions in 30 years. LHU leads the all-time series 22-18-3.
Freshmen finding the groove:
In Lock Haven's second game of the season, LHU downed Towson 8-0 and four freshmen found the back of the cage and scored their first career goals including –
MacKenzie Farley,
Emily Robb,
Taryn Piano and
Megan Miller.

- The back-to-back eight goals games to start the 2016 season mark the most for LHU in a single game since Lock Haven beat Towson 7-0 on September 6, 2014.
- The eight-goal margin of victory in the win over Towson marked the largest since LHU beat Colgate by eight, 9-1 on September 16, 2006.
- LHU's school record for goals in a game is 13 vs. Mansfield in 1983. The most vs. an NCAA Division I foe is 10, scored in a 10-0 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) in 2005.
