LHU’s comeback bid falls short in thrilling contest at Mansfield

The LHU men’s basketball team falls short in back-and-forth battle at Mansfield, 89-82.

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (8-8, 4-8 PSAC) fell short in a thrilling loss at Mansfield University (7-8, 5-7 PSAC) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest, 89-82.
 
The LHU basketball team fell into an early hole trailing Mansfield 17-0 early in the first half and trailed by as much as 24. LHU was quick to cut the lead and trailed only 44-42 at half.
 
The Bald Eagles got its first lead with 18:49 remaining in the second half from a Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, M.D./Riverdale Baptist) jump shot. Hunt finished the game with six points and four rebounds.
 
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) paced the powerful Bald Eagle offense finishing with a career high 28 points. Hinton finished with six assists and two steals.
 
Three other Bald Eagles also finished with double-digit points, Craig Slade (Philadelphia/Constitution), Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) and Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, P.A./Octorara). They finished with 13, 14 and 14, respectively.
 
Slade had a monster game, adding seven rebounds to his 13 point night for the Bald Eagles.
 
The Bald Eagles are back in action Saturday (Jan. 21) when they travel to West Chester to take on the Golden Rams at 3 p.m.
