EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was one of three Bald Eagles who scored in double figures and she sparked a 12-2 run midway through the second half, but the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (5-6, 2-5 PSAC) fell to East Stroudsburg University (8-3, 4-3 PSAC), 76-59 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener for both teams.
Mealing finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three steals.
Ayanda McGill-Jefferson (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) netted 16 points and
Madison McHale (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) drilled three 3-points on the way a 14-point night.
Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) added seven points and
Emily James (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield H.S.) grabbed six rebounds.
With the win the host-Warriors remain in a tie for first-place in the PSAC East standings. Allison Howard led ESU with 24 points and 17 rebounds.
Tonight's game marked the first of five in the next 12 days for Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles will host Kutztown University on Friday, January 6 at 5:30 p.m.
