PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (1-2) was able to capture the Bald Eagles first win of the new season, 87-67, on the road at Carlow (0-2).
After a bit of a slow start, the Bald Eagles leaned on freshman
Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and his 15 first half points to turn an early deficit into a 13-point halftime lead.
In the second half, LHU led by as many as 27 as The Haven was able to use its depth to completely overwhelm the Celtics and get the win.
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) led a balanced Lock Haven offense as he was one of four players to score double figures. Hinton finished the game with 19 points and six assists while Cerruti finished with 18 points.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) finished with 12 points while
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) added 11 points and six rebounds.
The Bald Eagles really made their mark on the defensive side of the ball, forcing 17 Carlow turnovers and turning them into 28 points.
