Setting the stage:

The Lock Haven University football team is set to close the 2017 season with a two-game homestand. The Bald Eagles will host East Stroudsburg University this Saturday (Nov. 4) in Week 10 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action.

Lock Haven is coming off a thrilling comeback-win over local-rival Bloomsburg University. LHU won 27-24 after a late fourth-quarter comeback which was sparked by true-freshman quarterback Kyle Knight. LHU is now 2-7 overall and 2-4 in PSAC East action. The Bald Eagles have won two of their last four games.

East Stroudsburg is 2-7 overall and 1-5 in PSAC East action. Last week, the Warriors dropped their fourth straight game, falling to West Chester University, 31-26.

Last season, Lock Haven topped ESU for the first time since 1989. The Bald Eagle offense powered its way to a school-record 66 points in the 66-41 road-victory.

Haven hits:
  • LHU used another strong game on the ground in Week 9 last week and stunned Bloomsburg 27-24. The Huskies entered the game in a four-way tie atop the PSAC East standings.
  • The win at Bloomsburg was powered by true-freshman QB Kyle Knight who rushed for three second-half TDs. He also rushed for a career-high 174 yards and threw for a career-high 137 yards (9 of 13, no INTs).
  • For his efforts, Knight was named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week. It marked the second time in a month that Knight was named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week.
  • It marked the Bald Eagles second straight win over Bloomsburg and the first at Bloom in 25 years. LHU hadn't beaten the Huskies on the road since the 1992 season, snapping a nine-game road-losing streak to BU. • With the win, LHU third-year head coach Dave Taynor improved to 2-1 vs. Bloomsburg.
  • The Bald Eagles had another big day on the ground and finished with 306 rushing yards.
  • RB John Ford rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown.
  • For Ford, it marked his fourth straight game with a TD and now six of his seven touchdowns this season have come in the last four games.
  • For the second straight week a pair of true-freshmen from Williamsport, Pennsylvania led the way in the receiving corps. Jalen Jackson hauled in four catches for 51 yards and Elliot Walker had three catches (27 yds.).
  • LHU's 12 INTs are No. 6 in the PSAC.
