LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (11-12, 7-12 PSAC) opened the game on a torrid 12-0 run and never looked back as all 12 Bald Eagles scored in a huge 95-78 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East win over Cheyney (2-23, 2-18 PSAC).
With the race tight for the final few playoff spots in the PSAC East, tonight's win couldn't have come at better time for Lock Haven.
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. He was one of three LHU players who finished with double-figures in the scoring column.
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) netted 15 points and
Craig Slade (Philadelphia/Constitution) scored 11 to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) hit a pair of 3's, netted eight points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added seven points and six rebounds.
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) was also a big part of the offense as he netted seven points and dished out five assists, matching a career high.
Hinton had two of Lock Haven's five blocks in the game as the defense was up to the task as well tonight.
The Bald Eagles led 56-30 at halftime and emptied the bench in the second half. In all, The Haven bench provided 44 points tonight.
Lock Haven will return to action on Saturday, February 18 at 4 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host West Chester on Senior Day.
