LHU Basketball returns to Thomas Fieldhouse for PSAC East action

The LHU men’s and women’s basketball teams return home for first time in 17 days to take on Cheyney and West Chester.

Tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 14) the LHU men's and women's basketball teams will host Cheyney University.

The women's game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start and the men's game tips at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Tonight, LHU welcomes the representatives from the Clinton Country Women's Center to Thomas Fieldhouse, as they team up with LHU hoops to help spread awareness, as February marks Dating Violence Awareness Month.

Also, at halftime of the men's game, LHU will honor a number of award-winning (both academic & athletic) Haven student-athletes.

The Haven will then take on West Chester University on Saturday where LHU will recognize its senior student- athletes on both the men's and women's teams. For the women, Sunday is also the Bald Eagles annual Alumnae Day (click here for more). Earlier this season, the men held another successful Alumni Day.

On Saturday the women's game will begin at 2 p.m. while the men game will tip off at 4 p.m.

Bald Eagle streaks:
WBB: Lysa Mealing has recorded seven straight double-doubles bringing her season total to 13. She currently is No. 1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and No. 2 in the NCAA DII in rebounds per game averaging 12.7.

MBB: Amir Hinton has earned five of the last six PSAC Freshman of the Week honors and has tallied seven total. He currently leads the PSAC and is No. 12 in NCAA DII averaging 23.2 points per game.

LHU Women's Basketball Notes:
LHU Season/Career Highs

The Lock Haven University women's basketball picked up a huge win on Saturday at Millersville and one that could hold major playoff impact down the stretch … LHU rallied late and soared past host-Millersville in double-OT … The win at Millersville came in large part to the play of freshman Rileigh Devine, who scored a career-high 30 points and LHU's first 30-plus point game since 2013 … She was just nine points away from tying Lock Haven's single-game school record (39) … The Bald Eagles are 8-14 overall and 5-13 in PSAC play … LHU currently sits seventh in the PSAC East standings with four regular season games remaining … The next three games for LHU are all at home … On the season, Madison McHale leads LHU in scoring with 10.9 points, while Lysa Mealing adds 10.4 … Mealing leads the PSAC in rebounding with 12.7 rebounds per game, nearly three more than the second-highest mark in the league.

LHU Season/Career Highs

With just four regular season games remaining, the Lock Haven University men's basketball team returns home for a three-game homestand … The Bald Eagles will close the three-game homestand next Wednesday (Feb. 22) vs. Mansfield … With Lock Haven sitting at 6-12 in PSAC action and eighth in the PSAC East standings, every game remaining is a big one for The Haven, and one that holds major playoff implications … Freshman Amir Hinton leads LHU in scoring with 23.2 points per game, which ranks second in the entire PSAC … Last week, Hinton averaged 19.5, netting 16 at nationally-ranked Shippensburg and 23 at Millersville … Lock Haven is 10-12 overall and is 2-2 this season vs. its four remaining opponents.

Up next:
After Saturday's game against West Chester both the Bald Eagle men and women will remain at home for their last home game of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 22 when they are set to host local-rival Mansfield University. The women's game is set to start at 5:30 p.m. while the men will start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
