GREENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 13 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (4-2, 1-1 PSAC) rallied for nine second-half goals and the Bald Eagles did all they could to overcome a seven-goal halftime deficit, but it wasn't enough as LHU was edged 12-11 by host Seton Hill (4-4, 2-2 PSAC) this afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) thriller.
At halftime, Lock Haven trailed 9-2, but the Bald Eagles got rolling in the second half scoring two goals in the opening minute – just 14 seconds apart – which quickly cut the Seton Hill lead to five at 9-4. The quick start gave Lock Have all the momentum as the Bald Eagles scored nine second half goals including the first four of the second half.
Ashley Gochenaur (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) scored with 4:57 left in the game to make it a one-goal contest with Seton Hill up, 12-11, but that would round out all the scoring for the game.
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) and
Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) both recorded hat tricks for Lock Haven, while
Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) scored twice and added one assist.
LHU goalkeeper
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.) made 11 saves.
On Tuesday, March 28, LHU will play at Shippensburg (4 p.m.).
