Box Score CARY, N.C. – The Lock Haven University softball team (4-7) capped a busy three days today at the Shaw Tournament in Cary, North Carolina with a huge win as the Bald Eagles dropped Virginia Union, 8-3, this afternoon.
In all, the Bald Eagles went 3-2 at the tournament, which started Friday night for The Haven.
Leading the way today was
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon), who hit a home run and pitcher
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), who picked up the win in the circle.
Yesterday (Saturday, March 4), the Bald Eagles split a mixed doubleheader for the second straight day. LHU opened the day with a big 11-2 win over Virginia State in six innings, before falling to No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne, 8-0 in six innings.
On Friday (March 3), LHU fell to Charleston, 3-2 before picking up a big 8-1 win over host Shaw.

For the second straight day in Cary, North Carolina, the Lock Haven University softball team split a pair of games in a mixed doubleheader at the Shaw Tournament.
Lock Haven opened the day with an 11-2 (6 inn.) win over Virginia State, before falling to No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne, 8-0 (6 inn.).
In the win over Virginia State, Lock Haven scored 11 runs on 15 hits as the offense proved strong once again.
Michelle Holweger was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while
Rachel Mouillesseaux went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
Faith Ceely was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and
Madison Mathes went 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored.
In six innings of work in the circle, Mouillesseaux scattered five hits and struck out seven.
No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne moved to 20-2 on the season with the win over Lock Haven.
Friday, March 3
Despite a furious late-game rally that saw Lock Haven plate two runs in the top of the seventh, the Bald Eagles were edged by Charleston, who has become a rival of late, 3-2.
LHU scored its two runs on four hits including two from
Becca Caputo.
Bekah Slattery struck out four after a solid day in the circle.
For Lock Haven, the offense came alive in the second game of the day on Friday, as the Bald Eagles scored eight runs on 14 hits as they soared to an 8-1 win over host-Shaw.
LHU also benefited from a solid outing from pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux, who threw a complete-game. She scattered four hits and struck out six.
Mouillesseaux also played part in Lock Haven's offensive surge after going 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Jessica Strouse was 3 for 4 with two RBIs,
Michelle Holweger went 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored, while
McKenna Garlock was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and
Jodi Weaknecht added a 2 for 3 plate performance.

Lock Haven will return to action Friday, March 10 when the Bald Eagles open play at the Salem (Virginia) Tournament. On Friday, LHU plays Shepherd at 3 p.m. and West Virginia Wesleyan at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Bald Eagles take on Glenville State and Tiffin before playing Wheeling Jesuit and Davis & Elkins on Sunday to round out a six-game weekend.
